Passing Of Equine Friend- Natural Lady

NATURAL LADY

A great versatile mare passed away November 29, 2009 at the age of 22 years.

Natural Lady was an icon of the WHOA Register Of Merit and the TWHBEA Versatility Programs Lady taught the Gernt children to ride fast and stick in the saddle as she flew down the pole lanes switching leads with no slackening of speed. Natural Lady was a blur around the barrels and posted some of the fastest times that are still standing as records in the ROM and TWHBEA speed events.

Danielle Gernt, daughter of Carolyn and Vic Gernt, earned the first ever Tennessee Youth Superior Championship aboard Natural Lady. Then younger brother, Victor took up the reins and Lady showed him what speed was all about.

Danielle won the Celebration Equitation World Championship aboard Lady proving to the world that she was responsive and naturally gaited and could do mare than fly.

Perhaps one of the most memorial wins for this great mare was when Victor rode her to capture the blue in the International Western Riding Championship. This was not a youth class as there were no youth classes then, it was a huge class filled with top riders—adult and youth—Natural Lady did it with ease, switching leads and sliding to a beautiful stop.

Natural Lady won so many awards it would be difficult to list them. She taught many youth to ride while serving as a mount in camps and introduced many more to our wonderful Tennessee Walking Horse breed.

Natural Lady will be missed by her many friends and admirers.
